“On ne voit bien qu’avec le coeur. L’essential est invisible pour les yeux.” ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Greetings. My name is Jason. I am honored to work with you. I would like to share just a little bit about my path, highlighting some of the relevant points during my early life and recent times which helped lead me to where I am today, so that you might have a better understanding of the work I'm here to do. I’ll start at the beginning… I was born and raised in the Carolinas. In my childhood, I was fortunate to spend endless amounts of time outdoors, as most areas where I found myself to be were rural homes or woodsy small town neighborhoods. I was always free to roam outside in Nature as I pleased. My heart has always felt most at home outdoors, exploring the magic of the forest realms, climbing trees, playing in creeks and streams, staying out late to behold the night Sky. I have always been in love with Nature and the Elements. I am grateful that this connection is still strong, and greatly influences everything I do. Working with the medicine of plants has been a lifelong passion. From a very early age I was also captivated and enchanted by the Crystal Realms, and I began assembling crystal grids intuitively when I was quite young. I eventually acquired a nack for crystal matchmaking as well - matching people intuitively with crystal allies whose assistance and guidance they can benefit from. I also had a natural intuition towards massage and bodywork from a young age. In fact, I always knew that I would one day become a massage therapist by trade.
In school I discovered a strong passion and natural proficiency for learning languages. I initially gravitated to the French language and ultimately ended up majoring in French and studying abroad in France. I received a full scholarship to Winthrop University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Modern Languages, with Minors in Anthropology and Theatre. I have always felt a strong inclination to understand human beings and how they express themselves - their cultures, their languages, their spirits, their hearts, their souls. I explored a wide spectrum of creative expression during my time in the Theatre - acting, dance, design, voice and movement. It was in my voice and movement training that I initially began practicing yoga regularly - in 2004. As a former gymnast and martial arts enthusiast, yoga was a natural progression for me. I have been practicing yoga ever since - one of the most precious gifts I received from my time in college. After graduating and working as a Librarian for a few years, I was called to move overseas. I took a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to move to Japan in 2007, where I lived and taught English in the Japanese puplic school system for 4 years.
My Reiki path began interestingly just before I moved to Japan, which is the birthplace of Reiki. Before relocating to the Land of the Rising Sun, I was encouraged inadvertently by a Reiki Master to pursue Reiki training. During my time teaching in Japan I traveled all over the country, made so many beautiful friends, became fairly proficient in Japanese, and fell in love with the distinctly unique culture and natural wonder of Japan. There truly is nowhere else quite like Japan. During those 4 years I visited many of Japan’s most prominent spiritual places of power, Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, studied Japan’s traditional style of archery, took part in various rituals and ceremonial traditions, but somehow the study of Reiki evaded me almost entirely while I was actually living in Japan, even though that Reiki Master’s suggestion stayed in the back of my mind the entire time. It wasn’t until I returned to the United States that I would finally train to become a Reiki practitioner.
When I returned to the States I was initially somewhat unsure of my direction. Reverse culture shock is real. Then, a few months after I returned, my father passed away suddenly from a heart attack. I was with him when he died. This unexpected event flipped my world upside down. To help cope with the grief I dove deeply into my yoga practice, spending many hours outdoors in meditation and reflection. It was during this time of deep inner work and processing that I found my direction, and I temporarily relocated to Austin for yoga teacher training. I realized that sharing the transformative and healing power of yoga is an important piece of my work here, as I had experienced this power first-hand. My yoga teacher training was one of the most empowering experiences of my life. I returned to South Carolina afterwards and had the privilege of teaching numerous yoga and meditation classes at a local yoga studio. It was during this time that I received Usui Reiki Level 1 & Level 2 certification, at that same yoga studio. I also started to feel the call to finally learn massage and bodywork, after many years of wandering - many years of healing, and growing, and awakening. I chose to relocate to Asheville to attend the Asheville School of Massage and Yoga in 2016. It’s hard to express how grateful I am for my time spent studying at this true gem of a healing arts school. Eternal gratitude. After graduating from massage school, I decided that I wanted Asheville to be my new home, which ultimately led me to working as a Massage Therapist and Reiki Practitioner at the Asheville Salt Cave, where I have been blessed to practice ever since. Additionally, I practice privately in a shared office space in Montford, which is also a true blessing.
I truly love working as a massage and bodywork therapist, which makes up most of the work that I do. Energywork is an increasingly sought-after healing art as well. As I encountered more and more clients who were seeking out Reiki for a wide variety of health concerns and received substantial feedback time and time again that this work was truly helpful for them, I decided to take my training further, and began to receive the guidance that I would one day be called to teach this work as well. I was guided to complete a Shamanic Reiki Master Practitioner course at Omega Institute in Shamanic Reiki and ancient shamanic ritual, facilitated by Llyn “Cedar” Roberts, the founder of Shamanic Reiki, and co-founder Stacey Gibbons. Shamanic Reiki is a potent alchemical fusion of ancient healing techniques and traditional Reiki. Working with Shamanic Reiki has been deeply transformative and empowering for me on this journey. In the Spring of 2019, almost exactly 12 years after that Reiki Master urged me to explore the Reiki path, I traveled to Israel to complete Usui and Holy Fire III Reiki Master Teacher certification in the Old City of Jerusalem with renowned Reiki teacher William Lee Rand, who interestingly is also the author of the Reiki training manual which I used during my first Reiki training. It was incredibly powerful to bring my exploration of the Reiki path full circle in such a palpably spiritual location. I had no idea 12 years earlier that I would become a Reiki teacher. It seems that the time has come for me to share the Healing Light of Reiki with other aspiring Lightworkers. I am infinitely blessed.
I recently sat with my beloved Grandmother as she crossed over. She was the most supportive Elder of my Life and if it wasn’t for her I truly don’t know what my Life would look like today. She is now my Ancestor. In the months leading up to her transition into the non-physical I learned a great deal about Life and Death, about Light and Shadow, and the importance of finding Peace with the full spectrum of experience as an immortal cosmic being in a mortal physical vessel, including the impermanence of that experience. I am now beginning to hear the call to explore work in rebirthing. Some of my most potent healing experiences and transformations were a result of rebirthing. This is potentially the next frontier of my own journey of growth and healing and I look forward to sharing more about my journey in the future. For now I am grateful to have found my own flow, in service as a Lightworker here in Asheville. And I am honored to work with you. Many blessings!
