“Yoga is the Journey of the Self, through the Self, to the Self.” ~Bhagavad Gita

I am honored to share my yoga practice with those who are called to this ancient mystical path. I have experience teaching Hatha, Yin, Restorative, and Vinyasa Flow styles of yoga. The core of my personal yoga journey is rooted in the Hatha yoga tradition. The direct translation of this Sanskrit word “Hatha” is “force” or “effort,” sometimes interpreted to mean “forceful tranquility,” as the goal of this system is a one-minded state of reunion and connection with the Universal Divine Consciousness - Absorption into Spirit - Surrender to the All That Is - the Ultimate Peace. This state of reunion, called “Samadhi” in Sanskrit, is achieved through a variety of methods discovered and developed by Ancient Shamanic Seers who were driven to unlock the mysteries of Creation itself. To reunite with Source Consciousness and discover the true nature of the essence of our being. They did this through experimentation with their bodies and their breath. Through diet and discipline. Through prolonged states of isolation and deep meditation. A true exploration of the Mystical. This prehistoric mystical wisdom was carried through time and eventually metamorphosed and evolved through eras of Hindu and Buddhist Esoteric Tantra, interweaving and branching into an assortment of systems of practices we loosely call “Yoga.” The term Yoga itself means “yoke,” referencing the state of Ultimate Union which is attainable when the potential power of the human mind is harnessed through this system of techniques. The true yogic path is an undeniably spiritual path.

A more modern interpretation has been extrapolated from the classical Hatha yoga text which abstractly applies the symbolic meaning of the Sun and the Moon to the term. This is not a direction translation, yet it illustrates a key element of the yogic practice, which is the harmonizing of the masculine and feminine energies within us. We are called to unify the polarities within us, and by extension to unify the polarities within the Collective. This doesn’t imply an elimination of the dual Solar and Lunar qualities, but rather calls us to guide these energies into an ecstatic dance of harmony and peace, revolving, orbiting and interpenetrating each other in perfect alignment with Cosmic Nature, with the rhythmic Order of the Universe, or “Rtam” in Sanskrit. It is a dance of fluid motion and crystalline stillness. An unending stasis of infinite movement - held in perpetual sacred balance. The yogic path is just one path to achieve this balance. In its truest, most essential reality, Yoga is simply remembering who we truly are. Yoga is returning Home.

Presently I am teaching Yoga in a private therapeutic format. My time with you will be structured in such a way to best suit your individual needs. My hope is to guide you in constructing the foundations upon which to build your own personal practice. As it becomes available I will offer hands-on adjustments and in some cases may incorporate bodywork and energywork, depending upon your needs and your openness. It is my intention to meet you where you are and serve as a guide in exploring and unfolding along your own yogic path. I am flexible with location, but suggest we meet somewhere relatively quiet with as few distractions as possible. Please email me if you would like to arrange a private yoga session.
